The Library is Open: cpd23 Thing 1

This is my space where I will attempt to take part in the '23 Things for Professional Development' project. In the future it may become a space for library related ramblings but for now I'll keep it strictly course related.

I work as a Library Assistant in an academic library, prior to that I have been a Graduate Intern with the Acquisitions department of the same academic library and, of course, a casual shelver. In April 2012 I began my MSc in Information and Library Studies in the hope of one day getting beyond the desk. My long term goal is to complete my course, get my CILIP accreditation and one day become a Subject Librarian for the Faculty of Arts (my BA is in English Literature).

A very kind colleague of mine who has just completed her library Masters put me on to the '23 Things' website. She said that on her course it was highly recommended to take part and it would help towards career development, so here I am.

While I do use Facebook, I'm not really that experienced with social media (strange for a 20 something year old) so I am looking forward to getting to grips with the majority of the 'Things'.

I'm also looking forward to reading what others on the course have to say and hopefully making some new connections :)

  1. Cool! I like your profile picture. I am Dolly from Lampeter. Like you, I am also not quite sure about all these social media technology and would like to learn more about it. I have been working in an academic library since 2003 and am a subject librarian for the faculty of Humanities at Lampeter University. Look forward to reading more of your postings.

  2. Hi Penny
I did cpd23 last year and it really helped me with social media. I'm doing it again this year to see how far i've come in the last year. I hope you enjoy taking part.
